AFTER a superb win in Aachen and with just two legs left of the 2010 Meydan Nations' Cup Superleague, Team Ireland Equestrian's show jumping manager Robert Splaine this afternoon (Tuesday) announced his squad to compete at the penultimate competition in Hickstead, England on Friday July 30.
The squad in alphabetical order is:
Shane Breen; Carmena Z
Dermott Lennon; Hallmark Elite
Denis Lynch; Nabab's Son
Shane Sweetnam; Amaretto d'Arco
Billy Twomey; Je t'Aime Flamenco
Splaine said: "While I have retained three of the riders from the victorious Aachen team last week, two will be riding different horses, and I have added Shane Breen with 'Carmena Z' and Shane Sweetnam, who has been performing well with 'Amaretto d'Arco'.
"Though we are now third in the Meydan table, it is vital to maintain the momentum to the very end of the series, as our position is by no means assured. I am very aware that the concluding competition at the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show comes up on us very fast after Hickstead and I also must ensure the availability of horses for Ireland’s participation in the World Equestrian Games at Kentucky in September."
