IRELAND will field Shane Breen, Jessica Kurten, Dermott Lennon, Denis Lynch and Capt. David O'Brien as its squad to do battle in the Swedish Nations' Cup next week.
And with Ireland lying just one place outside the relegation zone of the Meydan Superleague, the team will be hoping to repeat the outstanding Irish victory which took place in 2009 at Sweden's Falsterbo Horse Show.
Ireland dropped to sixth place of the world's top ten show jumping teams after a disappointing equal seventh place at Rotterdam in June, and points are badly needed to keep the country in contention to qualify for the 2011 superleague.
Team Ireland Equestrian Show Jumping Manager Robert Splaine said today (Thursday): "This is the same squad of five that lined out at Rotterdam two weeks ago. However I won't decide my final four until after next Thursday's competitions. We learned a lot at Rotterdam and hopefully with the benefit of that experience we can improve on that result at Falsterbo."
With time running out in the search for extra points - Sweden will be the fifth of the eight-contest series - Ireland will also have to regroup very quickly for the German Nations' Cup in Aachen, which comes up just six days later.
The final of the Meydan Superleague will be the Aga Khan Trophy competition at Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show in early August, and the bottom four teams will be relegated to the Nations' Cup Promotional League.
