Dublin is the Final of the FEI Meydan Nations' Cup series and although no extra points are awarded, the sixth-ranked Irish team will be striving to equal or better its fifth position in the 2008 Series. Britain and Italy are currently bottom of the Series and will be attempting to climb out of the two-team relegation zone. France are current leaders in the Meydan Series.

Friday will also see the 83rd year since the first Aga Khan Trophy competition took place in Dublin.
