SPLAINE NAMES IRISH TEAM FOR ST.GALLEN CLASH

(02 Jun 2011)

TEAM Ireland Equestrian's show jumping manager Robert Splaine this evening (Thursday) confirmed his team to compete in the third leg of the FEI Nations' Cup Superleague at St. Gallen in Switzerland tomorrow afternoon.

Ireland is drawn fifth of nine teams competing, and will line out as:
Alexander Butler/Will Wimble (ISH)
Jennifer Crooks/SF Uryadi
Jessica Kurten/API Largo
Shane Sweetnam/Amaretto Darco

Meath rider Butler will be making his Superleague debut with Harold McGahern's grey Irish-bred Touchdown gelding 'Will Wimble', having been a member of the winning Irish team in the Promotional Nations' Cup at Copenhagen last month, which featured Crooks and 'SF Uryadi', who will also be stepping up a grade tomorrow.

Shane Sweetnam and 'Amaretto Darco' were part of the Rome Superleague team who finished third last week, and were also on the winning team in the first leg of the series at La Baule, France.

Kurten will be making her debut in a 2011 Superleague squad.

Ireland currently leads the FEI Superleague of the world's top eight nations on 16 points with Belgium just two points behind.
