IRELAND will compete in the fifth leg of the FEI Nations' Cup Superleague at Aachen in Germany on Thursday night, and Team Ireland Equestrian's show jumping manager Robert Splaine has tonight (Sunday) named his squad for this important contest.
The squad, from which Splaine will select four for his team, is, in alphabetical order:
Shane Breen; Carmena Z
Dermott Lennon; Hallmark Elite
Denis Lynch; Lantinus
Shane Sweetnam; Amaretto Darco
Billy Twomey; Tinka's Serenade
Aachen is traditionally regarded as the toughest test of the Superleague, and Ireland pulled off an historic win there in 2010, with Lennon, Lynch and Twomey on that victorious team.
This year's two-round competition is due to start at 6.30pm Irish time on Thursday.
Ireland currently holds second place in the Nations' Cup Superleague, which features the world's top eight show jumping nations, and which will finish in Rotterdam, Holland on August 26th. The Dublin Horse Show hosts the seventh leg of the series on August 5th. The Netherlands currently lead the table with 29.5 points against Ireland's 24.
