A narrow victory came in the speed class on Camilla Berger's 12 year-old grey gelding 'Montanus Colorado', with Twomey shading Spanish challenger Jesus Garmendia Echeverria by a fraction of a second. Twomey earlier placed Michael Connaughton's Irish-bred mare 'Cavinem' in fourth position in the two phase competition. Twomey and 39 year-old Jessica Kurten were the only two Irish competitors at the Spanish show, but between them picked up the lion's share of prize money during the weekend. Cork-born Twomey accounted for three wins as well as runner-up spots in both Friday's Accumulator and Grand Prix classes, while Kurten won the Grand Prix with 'Castle Forbes Cosma', and took second place in Saturday's Queen's Cup, adding to rewards already collected from being placed in the top five of four other competitions.
