TWOMEY JUMPS TO FOURTH IN BRITISH OPEN FINAL

(10 Apr 2010)

CORK'S Billy Twomey jumped up the rankings of the British Open Show Jumping Championship tonight (Saturday) when he placed fourth in the hard-fought final with Sue Davies's bay stallion 'Je t'Aime Flamenco'.

After three rounds held during the week at the four-star show in Birmingham, Twomey's performance tonight with eleven penalties on the board meant he overtook Tipperary-born Shane Breen, who dropped to seventh overall on 15 faults with Keith Prescott's grey Irish-bred gelding 'Mullaghdrin Gold Rain'.

The overall winner was Britain's Ellen Whitaker on 'Equimax Ocolado', who returned just four faults over the two rounds.

Whitaker collected 28,000 euro for her victory, while Twomey took home just under 6,000 euro, and Breen almost 4,000 euro.
