TWOMEY KICKS OFF STUTTGART WITH A FIFTH

(18 Nov 2010)

WITH a star-studded field of competitors in tonight's (Thursday) feature speed class at Stuttgart's World Cup show in Germany, it was Cork's Billy Twomey who came home fastest of the Irish, taking fifth place with Sue Davies's 13 year-old mare 'Tinka's Serenade'.

With France's Julien Epaillard claiming the winner's trophy, and Germany's Marcus Ehning and Ludger Beerbaum taking second and third place respectively, Twomey was battling the very best Stuttgart had to offer, but also managed to see off challenges from Germany's Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Sweden's World No. 5, Rolf-Goran Bengtsson.

Ireland's Jessica Kurten took eighth place overall with Lady Georgina Forbes's mare 'Castle Fornes Cosma'.

Stuttgart's German Masters competition takes place late on Friday night, while the rich Rolex World Cup class is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
