TIPPERARY'S Denis Lynch failed to pull off his second consecutive Aachen Grand Prix win in Germany today, with Billy Twomey the only Irish rider to qualify for the second round.
Lynch faulted once with his top horse 'Lantinus', and left the field open for his fellow Irish rider, but Twomey and Sue Davies's bay stallion 'Je t'Aime Flamenco' dropped a single pole in the next round, and failed the make the final four-horse jump-off, which was won by Canada's Eric Lamaze and 'Hickstead', who collected the sizable first prize of 115,000 euro.
Twomey, however, received a not insubstantial 8,000 euro for seventh place.
Earlier, Cian O'Connor and 'Splendor' finished third in the speed competition at Aachen, with Denis Lynch close behind in fourth on 'All Inclusive NRW'.
