BILLY Twomey rounded off a good week at the Spanish Sunshine Tour when finishing fourth on a double clear round in today's (Sunday) Grand Prix with Sue Davies's chestnut mare 'Tinka's Serenade'.
The Cork-born rider was almost three seconds slower in the ten horse jump-off than French winner Michel Robert with 'Kellemoi de Pepita', who took the 24,000 euro first prize with a superb fast finishing time, seeing off a challenge from Britain's John Whitaker and 'Peppermill'. Twomey himself collected 11,000 euro for his place.
Yesterday (Saturday) 32 year-old Twomey claimed fifth in the Two Phase class with 'Blue Thunder', and had an eighth place in Friday's Grand Prix at the four star show, also with 'Tinka's Serenade', while on Thursday recorded a fourth, again with 'Blue Thunder', in the Accumulator class.
