TWOMEY THIRD IN MONTE CARLO JUMP OFF

(26 Jun 2010)

FIVE stallions made it through to the 12 horse jump-off at Monte Carlo's five-star show this afternoon (Saturday), and three of them claimed the top places, with Cork's Billy Twomey and 'Tackeray' finishing third.

The 10 year-old chestnut stallion, owned by Michelle Gatland, recorded a double clear round, but Twomey was outgunned on time by Brazil's Olympic Gold Medallist Rodrigo Pessoa and 'Palouchin de Ligny' in first place and fellow Brazilian Alvaro de Miranda Neto in second with 'AD Norson'.

The 33 year-old Irish rider was rewarded with 3,000 euro in prize money while Pessoa claimed the top prize of 8,000 and De Miranda Neto 4,000.
