YOUNG RIDER HARRISON WINS MULLINGAR HSI CHIPPISON GRAND PRIX

(10 Apr 2010)

EIGHTEEN year-old Robert Harrison cut through a substantial field of 56 starters to win the HSI Chippison Grand Prix at Mullingar Equestrian Centre, Co. Westmeath tonight (Saturday).

Piloting his father David's 'Unlimited Lady', Young Rider Harrison was one of just eight to make it through to the jump-off on Tom Holden's course, in this 11th leg of the HSI Chippison Spring Tour.

With five Irish-bred horses and four Young Riders in the top six this evening, it was Lt. Michael Kelly and the Minister for Defence's Irish-bred 'Lough Foyle' who took the runner-up spot, just one-and-a-half seconds adrift of the Longford-born winner.

In third place, Young Rider Aidan Loftus accounted for one of only three double clears in the competition, with the Irish-bred 'Hi Kilrainey'.

The 12th leg of the HSI Chippison Spring takes place at Clare Equestrian Centre tomorrow (Sunday).
