The European Pony Championships Begin Today in Ireland

The European Pony Championships in Dressage, Eventing and Show Jumping begin today in Millstreet Co. Cork.

 

The event will see 154 competitors who must be under the age of 16, from over 15 different countries compete for the coveted team and individual medals in each of the three disciplines.

 

The first medals will be decided on Thursday with the Team Dressage competitions concluding, followed by the Team Showjumping concluding on Friday. Saturday sees the exciting Cross Country phase taking place over the spectacular new course in Drishane Castle. The course has been created by the Duggan family at Millstreet specifically for Championships and designed by Mike Etherington Smith. The Eventing medals will be decided on Sunday as the Championships come to an exciting conclusion.

 

The GAIN Horse Feeds Showjumping, Eventing and Dressage teams will represent Ireland in all three disciplines as well as 6 additional individual riders in Eventing, these teams are also supported by the Irish Sports Council.

 

Admission to the venue is free and big crowds are expected to attend over the next week.
