CO CLARE brothers Conor and Eoin McMahon were in excellent form today (Saturday), scoring a win apiece at international competitions in Ireland and Italy.

Sixteen-year-old Conor McMahon claimed the Connolly’s Red Mills two-star international Grand Prix at the Green Glens arena in Millstreet, where the action was moved indoors due to heavy rain at the Co Cork venue. He guided Kiwi Ludo to a double clear round, finishing just three hundredths of a second faster than runner-up Jordan Coyle with Colour Me Blue.

Meanwhile at Arezzo in Italy, Conor’s older brother Eoin McMahon also scored a win at the three-star show with Ivaro V.D.Brouwershoeve. Damen Dixon was also in action in Italy and finished as runner-up in a speed class at San Giovanni in Marignano with Kobold V Schloesslihof.

Limerick’s Paul Kennedy added another podium finish for Ireland when he finished third with Cartown Danger Mouse, in the jump-off class at Oliva in Spain, while Waterford’s Anthony Condon also finished third aboard Balzac in the feature class at Vilamoura in Portugal. The winner’s prize went to the Irish Sport Horse Fernhill Curra Quinn, ridden by Portugal’s Duarte Seabra.
