The HSI Autumn Development Series Continued in Tipperary EC with Dressage, and Killossery Lodge Stud with Show Jumping.

Dressage at Tipperary Equestrian Centre:
The HSI Autumn Development Series Dressage Qualifier in Tipperary Equestrian Centre took place on Sunday past (24th October) with a total of 13 classes from Preliminary to Prix St. George, including age classes. The Prix St. George class was won by Marguerite Kavanagh with Fidette (64.56%). Tara Oliver took the win with Senators Rhonaldo in the Advanced class (67.14%), while Lindsay Newitt with Ballinglen Dreamer (ISH) (Financial Reward X Clovers Return, bred by Donal Goland) placed first in the 4-year-old class (68.40%). The 5-year-old class was won by John Gavin with Holywell Spark (ISH) (Cobra X Contador, bred by Jacinta O’Donoghue) with 79.52%, and the 6-year-old class winner was Sean Burgess with DHI Kikkis with an impressive 84.83%. The winners of all other classes are as follows – Preliminary: Nicki Russell with Rafftery (69.80%); Novice: Owen Smyth with Dark Site (70.97%); Elementary: Jennifer Rea with Fermoyle Charles (72.24%); Medium: Edie Murray-Hayden with Sandyhill Ceol (65.44%); Advanced Medium: Rosemary Gaffney with Chantal 1 (65.00%); Intermediate I: Louise Doheny with Angel D (65.88%) and Intermediate II: Tara Oliver with Furst Romance (64.41%).
Show Jumping at Killossery Lodge Stud:
Meanwhile, the Show Jumping Qualifier which took place in Killossery Lodge Stud concluded on Monday 25th October with the 4-year-old, 6-year-old and 1.40m Grand Prix classes. In the 4-year-old class a huge 21 horse and rider combinations jumped clear to share first prize, out of 33 starters. In the 6-year-old class Derek McConnell with Inlaws Manolo (Corland X Lord Z, bred by Tomas Hester & owned by Sorcha Hennessy) took the win with a double clear, beating runner up Richard Kerins with Marius CK (Marius Claudius X Quality Time) by less than a second. The 1m40 Grand Prix class also went down to the wire, with Dermott Lennon and Millview Cicero (Cicero Z Van Paemal X Oklund, bred by Harry Marshall & owned by Bronte Stables) taking the win with a super-fast double clear. Richard Kerins again came in second place with Small Change (Pacino X Poltarf), just a couple of seconds behind.

Showjumping and Dressage:
The action continues this weekend with Show Jumping taking place in Portmore Equestrian Centre, Co. Antrim, and with Dressage in Barnadown, Gorey, Co. Wexford. Entries can be made through Show Jumping Ireland & Dressage Ireland.
Eventing:
The conclusion of the eventing development series takes place in Ballindenisk, Co. Cork, on the 7th November. There is a fantastic prize fund of €7,000 up for grabs for the winning combinations in the age classes and breeders of the winning young horses. This is an educational arena eventing experience that is not to be missed by producers of young horses with classes for 4-year-olds, 5-year-olds and 6-year-olds. Ballindenisk will also be running Arena Eventing classes open to all competitors that are members of Eventing Ireland (web membership is free!) and horses of any ages across tracks of 90cm, 1m & 1.05m.
