2017 HSI Stallion Selections

The 2017 HSI Stallion Selections took place over two days on the 7th and 8th March in Cavan Equestrian Centre. In total 30 stallions were presented for inspection, 15 for the Irish Sport Horse stallion inspections, 13 Irish Draught stallions and 2 pony stallions.
Four stallions were awarded Approved status having completed a linear profile and meeting the performance requirements for Approval in the Irish Sport Horse Studbook and two stallions met the requirements for Stage 1.
In the Irish Draught stallion selections 13 stallions were presented for inspection and 6 achieved Class 1 status. In addition, 1 pony stallion was Approved in the Irish Sport Pony studbook.
Commenting on the 2017 inspections, Alison Corbally, HSI Director of Breeding and Programmes, stated “with 30 stallions coming forward it was good to see the strong turnout of both Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horse stallions. There was some interesting bloodlines in the Irish Draught stallions that came forward it was also very positive to see overseas visitors making the trip over to the inspections”.
