2024 Grand Final for the Foal Championship and Loose Jumping

The final for the 2024 Foal Championship, and inaugural final for Loose Jumping, took place at Emerald Equestrian Centre, Co Kildare on Thursday 24th October. This fantastic initiative is funded under National Breeding Services by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
20 foals and 12 fillies competed in their respective categories for the coveted champion titles. One foal in each section of the Horse and Pony qualifiers were selected to compete at the final in Emerald; while first and second place at each of the Loose Jumping qualifiers earned a spot in the grand final for its first year.
The Foal championships kicked off at 12pm with the eventing Ponies. The judges were Sarah Ennis and Nicky Roncoroni.
The title was taken by Jackie Hockley’s Carnakilly Noble Man (CP), by Carnakilly Mac Guire (CP), out of Carnakilly Coral (CP) who is by Dexter Leam Pondi (CP).
Second place was Michael O’Sullivan’s colt by Fast & Furious Second Life Z (ZANG) out of Ballyvee Belle (ISP) by Cyklon Texass (PZHK).
In third place was Pat Lynch’s Donaghmore Shooting Star (CP), by Abbeyfield (CP), out of Pinegrove Suzy (CP), by Seoigeach (CP).

The next category was Pony showjumping, the judges for the showjumping section were Clem McMahon and Richard Bourns. The winner was Topney Lady T (ISP), owned by Sean Kearny, by the sire Gilton Des Islots (PSF), out of Lucretia “B” V/H Ju Xschot (BWPRP), by Benneton (NF).
The reserve champion was Ballymacho BD (ISP), bred by Madeline Gervais by Mendoza VDL (KWPN) out of Ballydavid Out of the Mist (ISP) by Templebready Fear Bui (CP).
Third place was taken by Stephen McDonald’s filly Jasmine’s Little Miss (ISP), by Weststar Sunny (CP), out of Dancing Jasmine (ISP) by Moore’s Clover (ISH)[TIH].

The horse sections began then, with horse eventing foals. Darragh Glynn & Niamh Varley’s VG Elusive Clann (ISH) was crowned the champion. VG Elusive Clann is by Elusive Emir (TB), out of Clann Misshermus (ISH) by Mermus R (KWPN).
Second and third place were taken by PJ Hegarty’s Fenjas Jasper (by Rosedale Casper (CP), out of Fenjas Elegance (ISH) by Ricardo Z (ZANG)) and Mary Ellen Rice’s Cool Obession (ISH) (by Yaakooum (TB) out of Cool Dakota (ISH) by Natal (HOLST)) respectively.

The traditional Irish horse foal section was won by Maria Melvin’s Glenkereen Time to Dance (ISH)[TIH] by thoroughbred stallion KMS Timeless (TB) out of Glenkeeran River Deep (ISH)[TIH] by Crosstown Dancer (ID).
Second place was Danielle Cusack’s Brittas Monte Cristo (ISH)[TIH] by Clonaslee Captain Cristo (ISH)[TIH] out of Ballydurn Taylor (ISH)[TIH] by Spirit House (TB).
Third place in the category was Carrafarm Champagne Problems (ISH)[TIH] by Carrick Diamond Royale (ISH)[TIH] out of Pagestown Harmony (ID) by Crosstown Dancer (ID).

Reserve champion was Olive Clarke’s FSS Conspiracy (ISH) by Conthargos (OLD) out of Kannan (KWPN) mare FSS Copycat (ISH). Third place was MF Tinkabelle (ISH) by Carrera VDL (KWPN) out of Kisabelle-S (KWPN) by Glenfiddich VDL (KWPN) bred by Stephen Audoire.

The loose jumping competition kicked off at 4pm with judges Clem McMahon and Richard Bourns.
Prizemoney was available from 1st to 3rd place in both the three-year-old category and the four-year-old category.
