YOUNG Irish show jumping sensation Bertram Allen has added yet another victory to his tally with a win in the Lichtenvoorde Grand Prix in the Netherlands this evening (Sunday).
Piloting the bay mare Wild Thing L, which is jointly owned by Ballywalter Farms and Billy Twomey, the 19 year-old rider added 8,000 euro to his 2014 prize money pot with a double clear round in the two-star event.
Closest challenger in the 15 horse jump-off, Belgium’s Tim Rieskamp – Gödeking with Quapitola De Beaufour, was left just under half a second adrift of the Wexford rider’s second round time of 30.95 seconds.
Allen this week attained his best-ever position in the Longines FEI World Show Jumping Rankings, climbing to No.17 of the 2,000 international riders who take part, and is now the highest-placed Irish competitor in the table.
The Irish teenager last month won the Italian World Cup class at Verona with Molly Malone V, his debut appearance at this top level of jumping.
