Autumn Development Series update from Barnadown & Portmore

Show Jumping in Barnadown:
In Barnadown Showjumping, Co. Wexford, the Horse Sport Ireland Development Series Qualifier including the 5-year-old class, 7 & 8-Year-Old class and 1m40 Grand Prix took place on Sunday (31st Oct) with nearing 30 entries in each class. Edward Doyle took victory in the Grand Prix with Chacco Bay (ISH), a 2012 gelding by Chacco Blue out of a Cruising mare, bred and owned by the Cawley family. A close jump-off between five riders saw Jamie Garland with her father’s Zedleppin come in second with nothing to add, and third place went to Andrew Hodgins on his home-bred mare Sandra with a super-fast round and one fence down.
The 7 & 8-Year-Old class was won by Brendan Murphy on the 8-Year-Old RHS Blue (ISH), owned by John Hoyne and bred by Deirdre McGuckian – the pair jumped a super double-clear in a time of 37.01 seconds, less than one second ahead of Gemma Phelan with 8-Year-Old Traditional Irish Horse ABC Ballycruise (ISH)[TIH] (Cruising X Diamond Lad, owned by Victoria Foster and bred by Patrick Kehoe) who came in second place. First prize in the 5-Year-Old class was shared between 15 combinations who posted fantastic double clears, including Jazmine Arthur with All That Jazz (Jack of Diamonds X Master Imp) and Grace McHugh with AMC Don Carlos (Arioso Du Theillet X Chippison).
Dressage in Portmore:
The Horse Sport Ireland Development Series Qualifier in Portmore Equestrian Centre, Co. Armagh took place on Saturday 30th October with 13 classes from Preliminary through to Prix St. George. The HSI Advanced Qualifier was won by Joanne Jarden & Qurryhill Calypso on a score of 67.18%. In the age classes, the 4-Year-Old class was won by Lisa Dundee with Bridge House Dragonfly, and the 5-Year-Old class win went to Amelia McFarland with Kingston Rua (ISH). The Prix St. George Qualifier win went to Laragh O’Grady with Mullentine Emerald Wolfe Tone (ISH).
Upcoming dates in Tipperary, Ard Chuain and Ballindenisk:
The next leg of the HSI Autumn Development Series for Show Jumping will take place next week, 13th November in Tipperary Equestrian Centre with classes for 4-Year-Olds and 6-Year-Olds, as well as the Grand Prix. In Dressage, the next leg will take place on the 14th November in Ard Chuain, Co. Sligo with the usual classes. In Eventing, Ballindenisk are hosting the last of the HSI Development Series legs with a prize fund of €7,000 to the best horses & breeders in the age categories, taking place this Sunday 7th November. Entries are now CLOSED for Ballindenisk.
