- 21 July 2016, 15:50
Ireland’s Billy Twomey and the Traditional Irish Sport Horse, Ardcolum Duke (ISH)(TIH), were victorious in today’s (Thursday) opening international class at Dublin Horse Show. The Speed Derby saw 19 combinations battling it out for the €24,600 prize money. It was Cork-native Twomey who jumped clear in the fastest time to take top spot, one of only two combinations to produce a fault free round.
Irish riders dominated the class with Shane Sweetman (Cyklon 1083) finishing in second, Dermott Lennon (Vampire) coming third, Greg Broderick (Zuidam) taking fourth and Denis Lynch (Ho Go Van De Padenborre) claiming sixth place. Two further international classes take place at Dublin today – the Speed Stakes and Anglesea Stakes, both offering prize funds of €24,600.
