Blake names team for Abu Dhabi Nations Cup

Michael Blake names his team for the first five-star Longines FEI Nations Cup of 2023.
Horse Sport Ireland Show Jumping High Performance Manager Michael Blake names his team for the first FEI five-star Longines Nations Cup of 2023, taking place in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, 22nd January.
The Irish team, sponsored by The Underwriting Exchange, will be as follows:
- Michael Duffy riding Cinca 3 owned by Hibernian Sport Horses Ltd
- Jessica Burke riding Nikey HH owned by Liam Nicholas
- Shane Breen riding Cuick Star Kervec owned by Breen Equestrian and Quirke Sport Horses Ltd
- Trevor Breen riding Germaine W owned by Mandy Hall
The reserve combination is Billy Twomey and Chat Botte E.D. owned by Sue Davis and Billy Twomey.
Speaking about the team announcement, Blake said:
“We’re looking forward to a good start here in Abu Dhabi, this was a happy hunting ground for us last year. We’re very hopeful of a strong performance on Sunday and looking forward to the year ahead. We have a lot of Nations Cups and exciting new combinations coming forward.”

Ireland have been drawn fourth to go out of six teams competing. The United Kingdom will be first to go in the opening round of the FEI Longines Nations Cup.
Last year Ireland successfully won FEI Longines Nations Cup competitions on four continents and will be looking to start their 2023 campaign in similar style.
