IRISH riders and horses were victorious in the first two international classes at the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show today (Wednesday).
Co. Down’s Dermott Lennon with Judith Sossick’s Irish Sport Horse mare Loughview Lou Lou took the Irish Sports Council Classic trophy in this afternoon’s feature class, seeing off a challenge from Spain’s Sergio Alvarez Moya with the grey gelding Carlo.
Lennon and the mare were also the winners of the Jumping In The City series final at Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium in June.
Earlier at the RDS, Tipperary’s Greg Broderick and another Irish Sport Horse, Elizabeth Shia’s gelding MHS Automatic, won the Speed Stakes, with Offaly’s Darragh Kenny and Picolo as runners-up.
Irish riders took the top five places in the competition, with Conor Swail and Simba de La Roque in third, Billy Twomey and the Irish Sport Horse Ardcolum Duke in fourth, and another Irish Sport Horse, Drumiller Lough, claiming fifth place with Army rider Capt. Michael Kelly on board. Cian O’Connor completed the Irish whitewash with a ninth place on the mare Be Gentle.
