ALEXANDER Butler and the Sport Horse Will Wimble claimed victory at the CSI2* Grand Prix at Mullingar today (Monday), adding to their recent win at the Balmoral Grand Prix in Northern Ireland last month.

The 25 year-old Meath rider was one of just four to record a double clear round in the nine-horse jump off, and despite a very strong challenge from Edward Doyle and Samgemjee, came home with just under a second in hand.

Will Wimble is owned and bred by Harold McGahern, Rincoola, Granard, Co. Longford and the successful partnership with Butler has been in place since 2005, with notable successes achieved to date, including the Lummen Grand Prix in 2012 and the Vodafone Grand Prix title in Balmoral in 2011.

Will Wimble (ISH) is a 13 year old grey gelding by Touchdown (ISH) out of The Woolsack (ISH), by Roselier (TB).

Earlier at Mullingar, Sven Hadley won the Grand Prix Qualifier aboard Adelgonde Z, while on Saturday Peter Smyth won the 1m40 jump off class with the Irish Sport Horse Victoria
