CAPSTICK TALKS OF WINDSOR VICTORY
- 31 May 2014, 10:36
IRELAND’S Barry Capstick, who won the international Horse Pairs at Windsor earlier this month, was presented with his rosette by HM Queen Elizabeth, in whose grounds the competition was held.
Barry said: “I’m pleased to win again at Windsor, this makes it four times and two in a row. Fingers crossed for next year. The win puts us back to no. 5 in the FEI World Pairs rankings and gives us great heart for Sandringham two-star, although the rest of the year will be spent bringing on the new young horses so that we have four to choose from for the World Championships next year.
And what did HM say to him? “Not much,” Barry smiled. “ She just asked if I’d won Windsor before, but it felt great to fly the flag and the cheers we received from the Irish supporters and competitors, particularly the mounted games contingent, was brilliant.”
