Changes to format of AIRC Horse Trials Championships

COMPETITORS no longer have to qualify for the Association of Irish Riding Clubs National Horse Trials Championships next year, it was announced today.
The championships will instead revert back to its original format where competitors should have completed a one-day event from the first of May next year in order to be eligible for the final in September.
The decision was after consultation with the AIRC National Committee and also feedback received from competitors who took part in the championships earlier this year.
Chairman Tony Ennis said, “As a gateway organisation, we want to actively encourage as many of our members to take part in equestrian sports and we feel this change will help this.”
“Some regions found it difficult to organise a qualifier and I know some will be disappointed by this decision,” he added.
The National One-Day Event takes place at Kilguilkey House, Mallow, Co. Cork on Sunday 6th September 2015.
