Curran finishes 5th at Waregem with The Jump Jet

ARMY rider Capt. Geoff Curran finished in fifth place at the three-star event at Waregem in Belgium yesterday (Sunday), pulling the Irish Sport Horse The Jump Jet up from overnight 15th.

Though Curran held third place after show jumping with another Irish Sport Horse, Bolabaun, an elimination on the cross country phase dropped the combination off the leaderboard.

The 32 year-old Waterford native had held fourth place after dressage with Dublin-bred The Jump Jet, but four fences down in show jumping on Saturday afternoon dropped the combination to 15th overall.

However, a remarkable cross country comeback with The Jump Jet – jointly owned by Maurice Cassidy and the Minister for Defence – hoisted the pair to their final fith placing, just over five points behind German victor Kai-Steffen Meier and TSF Karascada M.
