Derry’s Daniel Coyle has recorded Ireland’s first win at this week’s five-star Nations Cup show at Hickstead in the UK. Coyle partnered the Susan Grange-owned gelding Simba De La Roque to victory in the 1m45 Bunn Leisure International Stakes. They crossed the line clear in 55.59 seconds – almost four seconds faster than American runner-up Lauren Hough with Quantas. Tipperary’s Shane Breen also finished among the prizes when taking fifth place with Cash Up.
Daniel Coyle is part of Rodrigo Pessoa’s Irish team, sponsored by The Underwriting Exchange and Devenish, for this afternoon’s Hickstead Nations Cup. He will be joined by Richard Howley, Richie Moloney and Shane Sweetnam with Ireland drawn first to jump when the competition begins at 2.15pm.
