Eight Irish riders in world top 100 as Bertram Allen maintains top 10 position

IN a further boost for Irish equestrian sport following on from a Nations Cup win at St Gallen on Friday, a new Irish Dressage record for Judy Reynolds and strong Irish performances at Tattersalls International Horse Trials, the latest Longines World Show Jumping rankings shows Ireland now having eight riders inside the top 100.

Wexford’s Bertram Allen (pictured above), continues to be the top-ranked Irish rider in 10th place on the standings, with Denis Lynch next best at No. 32 – four places ahead of Conor Swail at No.36.

Cian O’Connor is at No. 58 just ahead of Billy Twomey at 59. Shane Sweetnam is ranked No. 68 with Richie Moloney at 72 and Darragh Kenny at No.74.

American rider McLain Ward is the new World No.1, pushing Frenchman Simon Delestre into second position, while Germany’s Christian Ahlmann is now in third place.
