Horse Sport Ireland have been releasing episodes of Team Ireland Training Tips for the past three weeks – can you believe we’ve reached Episode 10 already? And to top it off, the Team Ireland Training Tips series has been nominated for the Irish Field GAIN Equine Nutrition Star of the Month! If you have enjoyed the series, we’d love you to give us your vote! Just head to the Irish Field website and cast your vote. Voting closes on the 28th May, and the winner will be announced on 30th May.
Huge thanks must go to Michael Blake, High Performance Show Jumping Director, and of course to all the athletes who have taken the time to share their knowledge and skills, and to give an insight into their day-to-day training on their yards.
Episode 10 comes from Michael Duffy, where he explains the use of placing poles before and after fences on a four-stride distance, to keep the horses rounded when jumping, helping them not to rush, and maintaining straightness between fences. You can watch this episode below, and you can watch all other episodes on our website here, or on our YouTube, Facebook & Instagram.
