Team Ireland Equestrian riders compete at the 2019 European Championships at Rotterdam (NED) this week, with teams competing in the disciplines of dressage, showjumping and para dressage. Yesterday (Tuesday), the Irish dressage team made history when they became the first ever Irish dressage team to qualify for an Olympic Games. This means that Ireland now has teams in both eventing and dressage qualified for Tokyo 2020.

The individual competition at the European Dressage Championships continue this week and today (Wednesday) saw the opening round of the European Showjumping Championships, with the Irish showjumping team hoping to secure Olympic qualification for next year’s Games.

Elsewhere on the showjumping circuit, action takes place at Vancouver Langley (CAN), Verbier (SUI), Zandhoven (BEL), Valence (FRA), Wiener-Neustadt (AUT), Ciekocinko (POL) and Chepstow (GBR). In eventing, Ireland plays host to a home international at Millstreet (IRL). Ireland will also be represented in eventing at The Plains Virginia (USA).
