Fontainebleau Selection System 2018

Fontainebleau 12^th – 15^th April 2018

CSIOP, CSIP, CSIYP Selection System

 For 2018, results of the Pony Spring Tour will be used to allocate places in the International show in Fontainebleau.

Each of the riders selected for the CSIOP or CSIP section will be allowed to bring a second pony in addition to the one which they qualified on as well as a 6 year old and/or seven year old pony.* The above mentioned second pony must be approved by the Team Manager as being of sufficient standard to compete in Fontainebleau. This second pony must have been seen on the Spring Tour a minimum of three times and have attained two first round clears out of three rounds in the 1.20m class. The same rule applies for additional young ponies.

*Important please note: Six year old ponies must qualify from the 1.10m Spring Tour at the chosen venues and if qualified can only compete in the 6 year old age class in Fontainebleau. Seven year old ponies can qualify in the 1.20m or 1.30m classes at the Spring Tour and are only eligible to compete in the 7 year old age class in Fontainebleau.

Ranking System

CSIOP-1.30m classes

Places on the Nations’ Cup squad will be allocated based on performances in three of the four 1.30m classes which take place as part of the spring tour.

• Cavan 03^rd March
• Maryville 10^th March
• Portmore 17^th March
• Ennis 24^th March

The first 1.30 will be at Cavan and there will be a 1.20m Before the 1.30m

The next three shows are counting and the 1.30m will be before the 1.20m.

Places on the nations cup squad will be allocated based on performance in the last three shows of the 1.30m Class.

Each combinations three lowest total fault scores from the first round in each of these 1.30m classes will count towards their overall ranking for the allocation of places in Fontainebleau.

In the case where combinations finish level having accumulated the fault totals as set out above, the combinations finishing position in the first round of the 1.30m class at Cavan,03^rd March will determine their ranking compared to the other combinations that finish on the same accumulated score.

If a combination does not compete at Ennis,24^th March they will be considered to have finished behind all those who did compete in the final leg for the purposes of resolving a tie in the accumulation of faults as set out above.

The first five combinations in the rankings will be allocated a place on the Nations’ Cup squad for Fontainebleau 12^th – 15^th April CSIOP. The Team Manager will, based on his expertise and knowledge of the combinations involved select the four combinations to jump for Ireland in the Nations’ Cup from amongst the five that travel as part of the squad.

The combinations that are ranked from places 6 to 10 in the 1.30m rankings will be allocated places in the CSIP competition.

CSIP- 1.20 metre classes.

 The 5 remaining places in the CSIP competition will be allocated to the combinations that finish in the top five in the 1.20m series at the five chosen venues.

There will be FIVE of these classes in total (Ard Chuain,24^th February – Ennis 24^th March).

Each combinations four lowest total fault scores from the first round in their respective competition will count towards their overall ranking for the allocation of places in Fontainebleau (Four best first round scores from a possible five).

In the case where combinations finish level having accumulated the fault totals as set out above the combinations finishing position in the last 1.20 class in Ennis, 24^th March will determine their ranking compared to other combinations that finish on the same accumulated score.

If a combination does not compete at Ennis, 24^th March they will be considered to have finished behind all those who did compete at Ennis, 24^th March for the purposes of resolving a tie in the accumulation of faults as set out above.

Any ponies that intend to stay within the SJI point threshold for the purposes of RDS 2018 qualification will be scored by jumping Hors Concours in competition for this qualification series.

For the avoidance of doubt, combinations can attempt to secure a place in Fontainebleau 12^th – 15^th April CSIP 1.20 classes through both the 1.20m rankings and the 1.30m rankings.

Six and Seven Year old ponies.

Veterinary

All ponies who intend to travel must be measured by HSI’s pony team veterinarian Con Kennedy at final training which will be held on Sunday 1^st April 2018 in Barnadown. Con Kennedy’s decision on measuring is final. Any pony not measured here must travel to Con to be measured at their own expense.

 Please note:

In the event of one leg of the tour being cancelled the committee will endeavour to designate another leg, if this is not possible then the best 2 out of 3 rounds will be counted for CSIOP and best 3 out of 4 rounds will be counted for CSIP & CSIYP classes.

While every effort will be made to adhere to the process set out above the committee can alter it at any time if they consider it to be in the best interest of the Irish squad travelling to Fontainebleau 12^th – 15^th April CSIOP, CSIP. In addition, they can choose to leave any selected rider or pony at home if they consider it to be in the best interest of the Irish squad travelling to Fontainebleau 12^th – 15^th April CSIOP, CSIP.
