Four-star win for Padraig McCarthy at Barroca D’Alva in Portugal – Cathal Daniels third

Irish Eventing riders have enjoyed an excellent weekend at Barroca D’Alva in Portugal, with Tipperary’s Padraig McCarthy, winner of the individual and team silver medal at the 2018 World Equestrian Games, recording the most impressive result in the feature four-star competition.
McCarthy and the 10-year-old gelding Leonidas II, (pictured) owned by Diane Brunsden and Peter Cattell, moved up from second place after Cross Country to score a superb win in the CCI 4*-L. Galway’s Cathal Daniels also took third place for Ireland with The Irish Sport Horse OLS King Aragon.
Cathal Daniels was also in impressive form in the CCI4*-S. He partnered the Sarah Hughes-owned Shannondale Percy (ISH) to fourth place. In the CCI2*-L at Barroca, Michael Ryan took second place with TR Kaygraff, while Austin O´Connor finished fourth with Isazsa.
