The Irish Eventing team, which included two riders from the silver medal winning squad at the World Equestrian Games, have continued their impressive international form with a fourth place finish in the final Nations Cup of the season at Boekelo in The Netherlands.

Irish Eventing Team Manager Sally Corscadden

Sally Corscadden’s team of Sam Watson (Tullabeg Flamenco (ISH), Sarah Ennis (Woodcourt Garrison (ISH), Brian Morrison (Global Milchem JJ) and Meabh Bolger (Killossery Athletic Touch (ISH), had been in seventh place of nine teams after Dressage and climbed to fourth after Saturday’s Cross Country. Watson Ennis and Morrison all jumped clear in the final Show Jumping phase with Ireland finishing on a final score of 120.70. Germany took the winners trophy with a score of 94.0, just ahead of Britain in second on 99.9, while Sweden filled third spot on 107.70. Ireland in fourth finished comfortably ahead of Italy in fifth, followed by Netherlands in sixth, France in seventh, New Zealand in eighth and Belgium in ninth.

Irish Eventing team manager Sally Corscadden said:
“It was a big learning curve for us here in Boekelo. We had a lot of young horses and it was really pleasing to see how they performed Cross Country and in today’s Show Jumping. It is exciting to have some new horses and riders showing a lot of promise. It is a real stepping stone for us and on the whole we are really happy with how we have performed.”

Sam Watson

Sam Watson’s foot perfect final clear round with the Vahe Bogossian-owned Tullabeg Flamenco (ISH) saw them take 10th individually on their Dressage score of 36.5. Germany’s Julia Krajewski and Samourai du Thot took the top prize with a score of 22.60. Watson recently entered the top 10 on the Eventing World Ranking list on the back of an excellent season and impressive performance at the World Equestrian Games

Ireland was also represented by a number of individual riders at Boekelo, including Declan Cullen who finished 25th with Seavaghan Ash (ISH). Louise Bloomer with Hollybrook High In The Sky (ISH)(TIH) finished 35th, Tegan White-McMorrow with Texan Style (ISH) came home in 44th, while Gerald Bloomer with Calliaghstown Flight (ISH) finished 64th.
