Fox Pitt wins Tatts Young Horse competition on Irish Sport Horse

AT Tattersalls International Horse Trials today (Saturday) World Number 2 Eventer William Fox Pitt held the top position in the Cooley Farms CCI1* Young Horse Class with the Irish Sport Horse The Soapdodger to win on his dressage score of 37.60.

Another Irish Sport Horse, the Connemara pony Newton Westie, won the Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa CCI1* for Ponies with Lucy Hancock, again adding nothing to their dressage score of 45.6.

Ireland’s Jodie O’Keeffe partnered with Kachemire le Beau went straight into the lead right at the outset of competition and maintained it throughout all stages to land the Land Rover CCI1* earlier today on a score of 40.00 ahead of nearest rival Great Britain’s William Fox Pitt and Reinstated.

In the Tredstep Ireland CCIJ1* Ireland’s Robbie Kearns and Garrybritt Bonny took the title finishing on a score of 48.80. Next best was Great Britain’s Alex Kennedy with Chocolate Domino who finished on the tightest margin of 48.90.

Classes completing on Sunday include the The Irish Field CCI3*, currently led by New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson and Jet Set; the Eventing Ireland CCI2* which has Britain’s Oliver Townend as overnight leader on Cooley SRS; Connolly’s Red Mills CCI2* U24 with Britain’s Tom McEwen leading on Joyride, and the George Mernagh Memorial CIC3* with Britain’s Flora Harris and Cesano H currently holding the top spot.

The Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair is run in association with Horse Sport Ireland and has attracted huge crowds so far this weekend.
