FOR the first time Irish teams will compete in both the Show Jumping and Eventing Nations’ Cups in the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany from June 25 to 30th this year.

Ireland’s show jumping team has competed regularly as a result of being in the top level Nations’ Cup series.

The eventing team’s invitation is as a result of their improved results recently, particularly their fifth place finish in last year’s Olympic Games in London.

Team Ireland Equestrian’s Eventing High Performance Manager Nick Turner has named the four riders who will represent Ireland in the CIC3* Eventing Nations Cup.

The team in alphabetical order is:

Sarah Ennis with Miriam Cunning’s Sugar Brown Babe
Aidan Keogh with Patrick Hughes’s Master Tredstep
Joseph Murphy with Noel Good & Jill Andrews and A. O’Callaghan & Michelle Nelson’s Electric Cruise
Austin O’Connor with Kate Jarvey’s Ringwood Mississippi

Nick Turner Commented: “Austin and Joseph are very experienced Olympic riders while Sarah and Aidan will be making their team debuts for Ireland. Sarah has a string of impressive results and really deserves her chance, while Aidan and Master Tredstep have a lot of 3 star experience with good recent results.”

“It is fantastic to get a chance to compete in this competition and we are really looking forward to it,” he added.

Manager Robert Splaine will confirm his show jumping team for Aachen later this week.
