Horse Sport Ireland Autumn Development Series – Hot competition at Raheen Na Gun, The Meadows and Abbotstown

The Horse Sport Ireland Autumn Development Series saw fantastic competitions once again this week in Show Jumping, Dressage and Eventing, with competitions well-supported at Raheen Na Gun in Kilkenny, The Meadows in Co Armagh and at the National Horse Sport Arena in Abbotstown, Dublin.

Raheen Na Gun in Kilkenny hosted Show Jumping competitions for young horses in the HSI Autumn Development Series on Wednesday October 14th. The HSI 4-year-old class attracted 24 entries with no less than 17 double clear rounds dividing the winners prize. The HSI 5-year-old competition saw 23 double clear rounds from 38 starters divide the win. There was a local winner in the HSI 6-year-old competition, with Kilkenny’s Eddie Moloney taking victory with Damma Kannan Supreme (ISH). Jason Higgins finished as runner-up with Creevyquinn Pearl (ISH), while third spot went to Linda Moloney with Lowhill Hot Shot (ISH).

The Meadows Equestrian Centre saw the first Arena Eventing competitions of the HSI Autumn Development Series take place on Saturday October 17th. The HSI AE90 for 4-year-olds saw Amanda Goldsbury take victory with Tullibards Benny & Jess. The HSI AE100 for 5-year-olds was also won by Amanda Goldsbury, this time with Illane Commotion. In the HSI AE 110 for 6&7-year-olds, Hannah Blakely came out on top with Lougherne Bellissima.

The Horse Sport Ireland Autumn Development Series Dressage at the National Horse Sport Arena in Abbotstown again saw huge entries in competitions for all levels on Sunday October 18th. The Grand Prix was won by Carolyn Mellor and VSH Governeur on a score of 65.87%, while Sarah Mellor and Lets Dance finished second on 61.52%. Carolyn Mellor again came out on top in the  Intermediaire II, this time with VSH Beaulero. The Intermediaire I was won by David Freeney with CLS Bram, while Marguerite Kavanagh and Flagranti took victory in a hotly contested Prix St George.

The Horse Sport Ireland Autumn Development Series continues this week with Show Jumping action for young horses at Maryville in Co Cork on Friday October 23rd and Grand Prix Show Jumping at Portmore on Sunday October 25th. Arena Eventing also takes place at Barnadown in Co Wexford on Sunday while their will also be Dressage competitions in the Horse Sport Ireland Autumn Development Series on Sunday at Greenogue Equestrian in Dublin.
