Horse Sport Ireland Young Rider Prizes – Irish Breeders Classic

The ninth Irish Breeders Classic show, held at Barnadown Showjumping in Co. Wexford took place last week from Wednesday 26th – Monday 30th August. Horse Sport Ireland are title sponsors of the event alongside GAIN Equine Nutrition and Alltech, while also sponsoring €2,000 towards Young Rider prizes in the two Grand Prix classes which took place on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, the George Mullins Horse Transport 1m40 Grand Prix was won by young rider Michael Pender and Irish-bred mare HHS Fortune. Michael also took the first Young Rider prize of €500 for this class. The second Young Rider prize of €250 went to Robyn Fagan in 5th and the third went to Katie Conlon in 8th place. On Monday, the 1m50-1m60 Grand Prix sponsored by Sweet Oak Farm USA took place, with Michael Pender again taking the first Horse Sport Ireland Young Rider prize of €500 finishing in 6th place. The second Young Rider prize went to Susan Fitzpatrick in 7th place, and Michael also took the third prize of €250 finishing in 13th place.

Horse Sport Ireland also presented prizes to the winner of the 5&6yo Irish Breeders Classic Consolation Final and Grand Final over the weekend. The Consolation Final was won by Ger O’Neill and Irish Sport Horse GCS Ita, and the Grand Final was won by Kevin Gallagher and Irish Sport Horse BP Limitless.
