HSI Autumn Development Series Results From Portmore and JAG

The HSI Show Jumping Development Series continued in Portmore on Sunday (28th of November). Horse Sport Ireland Sponsored the 5-year-old, 7/8-year-old class and the 1m40 Grand Prix. The 1m40 Grand Prix was won by Emily Turkington riding the Irish Sport Horse Jay Gatsby (Gatsby x Loughries Quiet Man), bred and owned by Cormac McKay, with a super double clear and a second round time of 37.64. Second place went to Dermot Lennon riding the Edmond Kearney owned Fanta M (Cicero Z Van Pamel x Navarone), double clear in a time of 38.03, and third place went to Niamh McEvoy riding Haifa OL (Nabab De Reve x Damiro), owned by Richard McEvoy and bred by Old Lodge Stud, another double clear ina  time of 39.63. The 7/8-year-old class was hotly contested with 21 combinations taking on the challenge. The eventual winner went to Sean Kavanagh riding Castle Lux Clover (ISH) (Boherdeal Clover x Lux Z), bred by Jennifer Devlin and owned by Aoibhinn Phelan. Kavanagh guided the 7-year-old bay gelding to victory by producing a beautiful double clear round in 29.20. Second place, by only a fraction of a second, went to Emma McEntee with Boss Quality (ISH) (OBOS Quality x Clover Fields), another 7-year-old bay gelding bred by Brian Treacy and owned by Jenny Lusk, double clear in a time of 29.59. Third place was claimed by Edward Little with HSC Sunny Jim (ISH) (Pacino x Conquistador), 8-year-old chestnut gelding bred by Sarah Heather Crawford and owned by Heather Crawford. The 5-year-old class consisted of a total of 19 starters and the winnings was split among 11 clear rounds on the day. Full results can be found on www.sjilive.ie

Dressage

The HSI Dressage Development Series took place on Saturday the 27th of November in JAG Equestrian where a total of 13 classes from Preliminary to Prix St. George, including age classes took place. The 6-year-old class was won by the consistently on-form Jennifer Rea and Fermoyle Charles (ISH) on a super score of 71.21%. The 5-year-old class was won by Bronagh Stevenson riding Hans First Lady (67.90%) and the 4-year-old class was won by Killian Gaffney riding My Bishophill Rolex (ISH) on a score of 67.40%. The Prix St. George was won by Laragh O’Grady riding Mullentine Emerald Wolf Tone (68.52%) and the Grand Prix was won by Kevin Acres riding Ganesh (62.28%). Upcoming events

Next week we see the HSI Show Jumping Development Series move to Ravensdale Lodge on the 5th of December. This is followed by the final which takes place in Cavan Equestrian Centre on the 10th to 12th of December.

The next and final show of the HSI Dressage Development Series will take place in Greenogue Equestrian Centre on the 12th of December.
