Horse Sport Ireland Foal Championship 2019

Horse Sport Ireland is pleased to announce the details of the HSI Foal Championship 2019. The Championship has a prize fund of almost €24,000.The aim is to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest level in the disciplines of showjumping or eventing.
All foals will be required to be marked, microchipped and have an application for a studbook passport submitted. Following feedback from breeders in 2019 we will video each of the foal qualifiers and owners can purchase their promotional video at a nominal fee of €15 which can be used by the owner for marketing purposes.
There will be six regional qualifiers with separate categories and sections for horses and ponies for potential showjumping foals and potential eventing foals. The aim is to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest level in the disciplines of showjumping or eventing.
The qualifiers will be held in August and September, dates listed in the table below. Eight foals from each regional qualifier will advance to the final; the best show jumping type and the reserve foal and the best eventing type and the reserve in each category (horse and pony). HSI are pleased to include a prize at each of the qualifiers for the best traditionally-bred (TIH) foal in the horse sections.
Champions will be named at the final in both horse and pony sections where €6,900 will awarded across categories. There will be a Champion Show Jumping Foal for both horses and ponies as well as a Champion Eventing Foal in both categories. Additionally there be a €1,000 awarded for the overall best traditionally-bred (TIH) foal in the horse section.
All classes will run on a pre-entry basis. Entries will not be taken by the show/venue and will be required 2 weeks prior to the event.
