HSI Sport Horse Foal Championship Results from Millstreet International Horse Show

The Horse Sport Ireland sport horse foal championship took place this weekend at Millstreet International Horse Show on Sunday 16th August. The top show jumping and eventing colt and filly respectively from each of the 6 regional qualifiers went forward to the final.
The Sport Horse Foal Championship aims to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest International level in the disciplines of Show Jumping or eventing.
The champion foal in each category was awarded €1,500 with each reserve receiving €500.
HSI would like to thank Millstreet International Horse Show for hosting the final of the Foal Championship and all of the judges who lent their expertise throughout the Championship. We are also grateful to all of the participants who travelled from all over the country to compete at the final.
Show Jumping Foals
The Show jumping section was judged by Robert Splaine and Mike Florence. The colt section was won by Andries De Bont with a colt by VDL Bubalu (KWPN) out of Vamp (KWPN) by Colino (HOLST). The reserve was awarded to Henry Gardiner’s colt foal by S Creevagh Ferro Ex Siebe (KWPN) out of Fermoyle Jane (ISH) by Captain Clover (ISH).
The show jumping filly section was won by Tom Clancy with a filly by OBOS Quality 004 (OLD) out of TC Miss Cruise (ISH) by Cruising (ISH). The reserve show jumping filly went to Olive Clarke’s filly foal by Cornet Obolensky (HANN) out of Paradise G (KWPN) out of Indoctro (HOLST).
Eventing Foals
The potential eventing foals were judged by Carol Gee and Jessica Harrington. The Eventing colt section was won by Malachy and Nuala O’Hare with a traditionally bred colt by Clerkenwell (USA) (TB) out of Bellville Diamond (ISH) by Flagmount Diamond (ID). The reserve was awarded to Thomas Horgan’s colt foal by Querlybet Hero (SBS) out of Cavalier Iris (ISH) by Cavalier Royale (HOLST).
The top eventing filly foal was won by Alex Deon with a filly by Castleforbes Lord Lancer (OLD) out of Gurraun Last Touch (AES) by Last News (USA) (TB). The reserve eventing filly went to Derek Jenning’s foal by OBOS Quality 004 (OLD) out of Another Dream (ISH) by Cavalier Royale (HOLST).
