HSI Sport Horse Foal Qualifier Results from the Meadows Equestrian Centre Northern Ireland

The final regional qualifier of the Horse Sport Ireland sport horse foal championship took place this weekend at The Meadows Equestrian Centre, Co. Armagh (NI) on Saturday 1^st August.

The Sport Horse Foal Championship aims to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest International level in the disciplines of Show Jumping or eventing.

The winning foal in each category was awarded €750 with each runner up receiving €250.

For each regional championship entries are restricted to foals born within their respective region. The top show jumping and eventing colt and filly respectively from each regional qualifier will go forward to the final which takes place at Millstreet International Horse Show on Sunday 16^th August.

Eventing Foals

The potential eventing foals were first in and judged by Janet Murray and Kieran Ryan. The Eventing colt section was won by Malachy and Nuala O’Hare with a colt by Clerkenwell (USA) (TB) out of Belville Diamond (ISH) by Flagmount Diamond (ID). The reserve was awarded to Catherine Abbott’s colt foal by Valent (KWPN) out of Timpany Night (ISH) by Nigrasine (GB) (TB).

The top eventing filly foal was won by Nigel Peter’s with a filly by OBOS Quality 004 (OLD) out of Flora Belle (ISH) by Aldatus Z (OLD). The reserve eventing filly went to Debbie Mc Clean’s foal by Ramiro B (BWP) out of Cocktail Party (IRE) (TB) by Acclamation (GB) (TB).

Show Jumping Foals

The Show jumping section was judged by Tom Slattery and John Hughes.  The colt section was won by Lawrence Patterson with a colt by Tolan R (KWPN) out of Drumnaconnell Rojo (ISH) by Guidam (SF). The reserve was awarded to John Mc Kibben’s colt foal by Vigo D Arsouilles (BWP) out of Ultiem V (KWPN) by Voltaire (HANN).

The show jumping filly section was won by Carol Armstrong with a filly by Plot Blue (KWPN) out of Cornascriebe Cavella (ISH) by Cavalier Royale (HOLST). The reserve show jumping filly went to John Mc Kibben’s filly foal by Darco (BWP) out of Zidane (KWPN) out of Heatrbreaker (KWPN).
