HSI Sport Horse Foal Qualifier Results – Tubberbride

The region 5 qualifier of the Horse Sport Ireland sport horse foals championships took place this weekend at Tubberbride Stables on Sunday 7th of August.

The Sport Horse Foal Championship aims to identify, evaluate and reward breeders who have bred a foal that has the potential to be competitive at the highest International level in the disciplines of Show Jumping or eventing.

The top show jumping and eventing colt and filly respectively from each regional qualifier will go forward to the final which take place at Cavan Equestrian Centre on 26th August 2016.

Show Jumping Foals

The potential Show jumping foals were judged first which was judged by Michael Duignan and Jack Doyle.  The colt section was won by Patrick J Cooke with a colt by Baltic VDL (KWPN) out of Leaving Cruise Mount (ISH) by Cruising (ISH). The reserve was awarded to Gerry Jennings colt foal by Kannan (KWPN) out of Pistache Du Ruisseau (SBS) by Darco (BWP).

The show jumping filly section was won by Lady Georgina Forbes with a filly by Kannan (KWPN) out of Castleforbes Libertina (WESTF) by Libero H (HOLST). The reserve show jumping filly also went to Lady Georgina Forbes with a foal by Vivaldo Van Het Costersveld (BWP), out of Myrtille Paulois (SF) out of Dollar Du Murier (SF).

Evening Foals

The eventing section was judged by Diane Gibson and George Chapman. The potential Eventing colt section was won by Gerry Jennings with a colt by OBOS Quality 004 (OLD) out of Another Dream (ISH) by Cavalier Royale (HOLST). The reserve was awarded to Michael Hartes colt foal by Sligo Candy Boy (ISH) out of Knockanarrow Lady (ISH) by All the Diamonds (ID C1).

The top eventing filly foal was won by Patrick J Cooke with a filly by Cougar (ISH) out of Gortermone Crest (ID C1) by Castle Crest (ID C1). The reserve eventing filly went to Gillian Devenneys foal by Creevagh Ferro (KWPN) out of Silver Lily (RID) by Ard Grandpa (ID C1).

The final will take place on the 26th August at Cavan Equestrian Centre where a pot of €10,000 will be on offer and two Champions will be named, Champion Showjumping Foal and Champion Eventing Foal. There will also be a special prize for the overall best traditionally-bred foal. The Showjumping Champion colt and filly will be offered free entry into the Cavan Elite Foal Sale taking place on the 22nd September at Cavan Equestrian Centre should their owners be interested in selling their foals.
