Important Notcei to Breeder’s and Veterinary Surgeons
- 20 June 2013, 13:41
Breeders and veterinary surgeons should note that when equines are being marked and micro-chipped for the purpose of being registered by Horse Sport Ireland a microchip that has been supplied by an approved Passport Issuing Organisation MUST be implanted in the equine. In order to avoid any unnecessary delays in the registration process please ensure that your vet implants a microchip that has been issued by HSI.
From the 30th June 2013 on-wards HSI will not be able to register equines that have been implanted with a microchip that has not been supplied by an approved Passport Issuing Organisation. This instruction has come from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and refers to requirements outlined in S.I. 357 of 2011.
