The Underwriting Exchange Irish Show Jumping team face nine nations in the FEI Rolex Piazza Di Siena CSIO5* Nations Cup this afternoon.

Michael Blake’s team of Mikey Pender, riding the Irish Sport Horse HHS Calais, Jack Ryan on board BBS McGregor (ISH), Michael G Duffy with Clitschko 17 and Denis Lynch riding Vistogrand, will bid to continue Ireland’s excellent run of form this season.

The Rome heat, which features familiar nations such as Great Britain, Germany, France and Sweden, is the third five-star Nations Cup of the season, with Irish teams finishing on the podium in the previous two.

The 2023 season got off to a strong start, with the team finishing third in Abu Dhabi and they followed that up with a runner-up finish behind home team United States in San Juan, Capistrano earlier this month.

Team Manager Blake said: “I’m really looking forward to this leg and I’m hopeful of another positive result – all four combinations are more than capable of performing at this level and I’m expecting a strong showing.”

Michael Blake’s The Underwriting Exchange Irish Show Jumping team will jump in the following order;

  1. Mikey Pender, riding the HHS Calais (ISH), owned by Bravo Hughes Ltd.
  2. Jack Ryan riding BBS McGregor (ISH), owned by Marguerite Ryan.
  3. Michael G Duffy riding Clitschko 17, owned by Carl Hanley Sporthorses Gmbh.
  4. Denis Lynch riding Vistogrand, owned by Denis Lynch.
