Kildare’s Judy Reynolds has recorded her third fifth place finish in-a-row at a World Cup Dressage fixture, with another impressive display in today’s (Friday) FEI World Cup Grand Prix at Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
Riding her long-term partner Vancouver K, owned by Joe and Kathleen Reynolds, Judy finished with a score of 74.717% to move into second place when 10th to go of the 17 starters. At the finish, Germany’s six-time Olympic Gold Medalist Isabell Werth with Weihegold OLD were the clear winners on a score 80.065%, however just one and a half percentage points separated Judy Reynolds in fifth and runner-up Dorothee Schneider (GER) with Sammy Davis Jr who scored 76.217%.
Judy Reynolds and Vancouver K had also finished fifth in both the Grand Prix and Freestyle to Music at Mechelen in Belgium last month.
Reynolds was extremely happy with how her horse performed today, and is looking forward to performing her new Freestyle programme on Saturday for the second time. Reynolds’ new Freestyle programme includes music by Ralf Roder, and went down a storm on its debut at Mechelen in December.
“I am delighted. It was really tough field – you could almost compare it to a World Cup Final with the people that are here (in Amsterdam). He (Vancouver K) was really super, he was relaxed and with me and we are very happy with him. I am looking forward now to the Freestyle. We have done the new test once before now and are hoping for another good result,” she said.
Amsterdam’s FEI Dressage Freestyle to Music starts at 11.30am Irish time tomorrow Saturday.
