Irish Horse Gateway, established by Horse Sport Ireland to connect the world to the Irish horse, was delighted to be associated with this year’s Irish Breeders Classic as a title sponsor.

The event took place at Barnadown Equestrian, County Wexford, and proved hugely successful. The final of the New Heights Champions Series  took place on Saturday where Capt. Geoff Curran, riding the Minister For Defence’s Irish Sport Horse Dollanstown, claimed victory on the day. Olympic rider Greg Broderick claimed the title of National Champion as the overall league winner.

The final leg of the Irish Breeders Classic took place yesterday (Sunday) after the Supreme Foal Sale. The highest priced foal of the day was Lot number 1, property of Kilmashogue Stud. Pembrook Corbetts Lane (ISH) a chestnut colt by Kannan (KWPN) out of Pembrook Lady (ISH) by Guidam (SF) was bought for €17,000 by Greg Broderick. In total 15 foals were auctioned in the Wexford venue with a clearance rate of 100%.

The prestigious Irish Breeders Classic final was contested by 25 horse and rider combinations. Nine of these Five and Six Year Old horses went forward to the jump off where Ger O’Neill, riding Columbcille Gypsy (ISH), claimed the win with a clear round and a time of 33.73. Kilkenny’s Eamon Murphy is the breeder and owner of the Lanaken bound Six Year Old and was there on the day to see his horse compete in Ireland’s richest young horse class.
