Irish Draught Horse Society Ltd. Northern Ireland Working hunter and jump cross event

The Irish Draught Horse Society Ltd. Northern Ireland held a working hunter and jump cross event on the 9th of July in Dirraw farm, County Antrim. It was open to all breeds of horse and pony with additional prizes for the top three performing Irish Draughts. These awards were used as qualifiers for the Irish Draught Horse Breeders Association National Show in Punchestown, County Kildare.

Horse Sport Ireland sponsored the 90cm working hunter class as well as the 90cm jump cross. These classes were sponsored under the 2016 Breeding Grant, which supports horses bred and produced in Ireland as well as recognising breeder efforts with prizes. The Irish Draught Horse Society Ltd. Northern Ireland was one of 24 applicants awarded funding following an evaluation by the Breeding Grant Evaluation Committee.

The 90cm working hunter class, judged by Roberta Brown and Sam Smyth, was won by Victoria Teuton and Cruise Brigade (ISH) by Clover Brigade (ISH) out of Miss Island (ISH), bred by Patrick Dunne and owned by Jim and Sally Glass. Second place went to Elaine O’Connor and Tullymurry Holly (ISH) by Camiro De Haar Z (Zang) out of Tullymurry Tammy (ISH), bred by Marian Turley and owned by David O’Connor. Nicky Nesbitt claimed third place with The Spy Master (ISH) by Master Imp (TB) out of Lilli Marlene (ISH) bred by Mrs M Brennan.

The top Irish Draught in the 90cm working hunter class was won by Ann-Marie Hughes and Ballyartan Dawn Comet (ID) by Come T (ID) out of The Midnight Lady (ID), bred by Richard Hughes. Second place draught was Ekateringburg (ID) by Creevagh Grey Rebel (ID) out of Stephanies Delight (RID), bred by Allison Barron and ridden by Natasha Adrain. Third place was awarded to Dungar Quick Silver (ID) by Fast Silver (ID) out of Dungar Park Lady (RID) bred by John Corbett, owned by Amanda Jane Wright and Mark Dobbin, ridden by David O’Connor.

The winner in the 90cm jump cross was Fiona Thompson’s Curolea Roni (ID) by Creevagh Grey Rebel (ID) out of Suza (ISH), bred by Janet Currie. In second place was Victoria Teuton’s Waterstone. David O’Connor was presented with third place with Dungar Quick Silver (ID) by Fast Silver (ID) out of Dungar Park Lady (RID) bred by John Corbett and owned by Amanda Jane Wright and Mark Dobbin.

The top Irish Draught in this jump cross competition was also awarded to Dungar Quick Silver. Second place was bestowed onto Ardnacashel Castana (ID) by Castana (ID) out of Cons Beauty (ID), bred by Con Lyons, owned and ridden by Victoria Teuton. Taking third place was Ballytrim Molly (ID) by Ballytrim Midnight Dancer (ID) out of Ballytrim Crystal (ID), bred by Tony Agnew and owned by Claire Liddle.
