Irish Pony riders make their mark with superb results at Chevenez in Switzerland

Irish Pony riders were in superb form at Chevenez in Switzerland last weekend, claiming a runner-up finish in the Nations Cup along with several impressive individual results.

The Irish Pony team of Charlotte Houston (Toscane Davnir), Aisling McGuinness (Calimero), Orla Duffy (Atlanta) and Ella Quigley (Clemens), scored a runner-up finish in the Chevenez Nations Cup on Friday. They finished on a two round total of 13 faults, just a single fault behind the winners from The Netherlands. Germany finished third with the home team from Switzerland in fourth.

In the individual classes, Orla Duffy and Sunny came out on top in Thursday’s Pony two phase, just ahead of Ella Quigley with Ruby Riot (ISH) in second. There was another Irish 1-2 in the Pony speed class with Aisling McGuinness with Calimero taking victory ahead of Orla Duffy with Atlanta in second. Orla Duffy and Sunny scored another win in Friday’s 1m20 Pony speed class. Saturday’s 1m20 saw Ella Quigley and Ruby Riot (ISH) take runner-up spot.

Sunday’s Pony Grand Prix saw Irish riders complete a brilliant 1-2 finish. Aisling McGuinness with Calimero claimed victory ahead of Charlotte Houston in second with Toscane Davnir. The CSI U25 Grand Prix saw Noelle Barry finish fourth with Jolie VH Molenhof.
