Irish Show Jumping team named for Friday’s Spanish Nations Cup

Irish Development team manager Michael Blake has named his team for tomorrow’s (Friday) five-star Nations Cup at Gijon in Spain.

Ireland have been drawn eighth to jump of 10 teams taking part and will line out as follows:
Tipperary’s Trevor Breen with Bombay – owned by Willy Matton
Waterford’s Anthony Condon with SFS Aristio – owned by Anthony Condon & John Hales
Galway’s Michael Duffy with ESF Top Contender – owned by Graham Dalton & Ben Dalton
Sligo’s Richard Howley with Dolores – owned by Morgan Kent
Ireland will face teams from France, Britain, Portugal, Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Belgium and the home team from Spain, in a competition that gets underway at 12.30pm Irish time.
Irish riders have already been in good form in Gijon, with Cork’s Billy Twomey coming out on top in Wednesday’s 1.50m two phase competition with Diaghilev, while Sligo’s Richard Howley finished just one hundredth of a second behind in second with Electra B.
