Irish Sport Horse Studbook Young Horse Eventing Championships Ballindenisk Co Cork

The Irish Sport Horse Studbook Young Horse Eventing Championships took place today (Sunday) at the Ballindenisk International Horse Trials in County Cork.

The aim of the Championships, which offers a prize fund of €25,000, is to identify, evaluate and reward owners of young horses that are capable of performing at the highest level in international eventing.

Luke Drea riding Gorsehill Horatio (ISH) were the winners of the ISH Studbook six -year-old championship, with Fraser Duffy second aboard Lismore Rockabill (ISH) and Camilla Speirs third riding BT Rock and Roller (ISH).

The ISH Studbook five-year-old championship saw Felicity Ward and Shanagore Jenga (ISH) score a win, ahead of Sarah Ennis and Cooley Cosmopolitan Diamond (ISH) in second, while Sarah Ennis also filled third spot with Westwinds Navigator (ISH).

In the ISH Studbook four-year-old championship, Sian Hawkes (GBR) and Poynstown Star (ISH) took the winners prize, with Sharon Power aboard A Sportsfield Top Notch (ISH) in second and Darragh Byrne with A Sportsfield Rio in third.

Jennifer Keuhnle filled the top two places in the ISH Studbook five & six-year-old pony championship. She scored a win with Tullibards Lucky Kate and finished second with Brocca Done Thing. Shannon Nelson and Lough fadda Rudi placed third.

The international competitions at Ballindenisk saw Aidan Keogh finish best of the Irish in the CCI3* class taking eighth place with Master Tredstep (ISH). The Irish Sport Horse, The Highland Prince, stormed to victory with Britain’s Michael Owen. The Horse Sport Ireland sponsored CCI2* class saw Alison Holden take runner-up spot with O My Balladeer (ISH) behind British winner Flora Harris with Billy Bandit.

In the CIC3* class, Cathal Daniels took  runner-up spot with Sammy Davis Junior (ISH), ahead of Sarah Ennis in third with BLM Diamond Delux. Britain’s Oliver Townend took the winners prize with Fenyas Elegance (ISH). Ciaran Glynn and November Night (ISH) were winners of the CIC2* competition.
